Barbara Ice

BarbaraMy name is Barbara Ice and I was born in Sioux Falls, SD and raised in Parker, SD. My husband and I met at college in Brookings, “Go Jacks”. We lived in Omaha, NE until he decided to pursue a career in optometry which took us to Houston, TX. After he graduated from Optometry School in 1981, we moved back to the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. After setting up practice and starting our family, I returned to college and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. Later, I returned to Sioux Falls to complete a Master’s in Reading and Administration. After 23 years in education and a short retirement, I took on the position as office manager. After all this time, I actually can say I understand a bit more about my husband’s profession. The dedication he has to optometry and to his patients is immeasurable. I love seeing the patients come through our door and being instrumental in their care. Please stop in to visit and see our exciting new line of frames not to mention our caring and smiley employees.

Brittany Pfizenmaier

Photo of BrittanyMy name is Brittany Pfizenmaier and I was born in raised in San Diego, California. I moved to Rapid City after graduating from Regis University with a degree in Chemistry. I am a patient service coordinator here. Meaning I get patients set up for Dr. Ice as well as scribe for him in the exam room. I believe being genuine and listening goes a long way in and out of the exam room. After work I practice Brazilian Jujitsu and raise my fur baby, a mini Aussie named Callie. I try to stay active since I was a competitive cheerleader for eight years and danced for four. However, we all know how that goes when life gets busy. Stop by and meet us!

Micaela Zavala

Photo of MicaelaMy name is Micaela Zavala. I was born and raised in Sacramento, California and I made my way to Rapid City, South Dakota in September of 2019. You will usually find me smiling at the receptionist’s desk or working with patients as a patient service coordinator. When I am not working I am studying and working towards my goal of becoming a registered nurse. I also like to practice jiu-jitsu in my free time. I am also raising one fur baby, a kitten named Athena who loves to play and wake her parents up at 5 AM every morning.

I grew up in Nebraska. I’ve lived in South Dakota for 17 years, but just recently moved to Rapid City. I love living in the Black Hills! I have been an optician for 5 years. I’ve worn glasses since I was five and have always had a passion for fun frames. Now, I am excited to keep up with technology and to help others see better.
